Diagnostic Imaging Centre in Gliwice officially opened

The symbolic ribbon-cutting for the Diagnostic Imaging Centre at Gliwice Municipal Hospital was performed by Ms. Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda - Minister of Health; Mr. Przemysław Gliklich - Chairman of the Board of the Municipal Hospital in Gliwice and Ms. Agnieszka Dylewska, Deputy Mayor of Gliwice. WARBUD was represented at the ceremony by Mr. Lech Wąsowski, Director of Region South and Member of the Management Board, Mr. Artur Jeżewski, Contract Director, and Mr. Piotr Rybicki, Site Manager.

The new facility, with an area of 917 sq. m, brings together the most important diagnostic equipment and facilities in one place: magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, X-ray, as well as an ultrasound suite and rooms for radiologists.  It forms an integral part of the hospital, streamlining and accelerating the diagnostic processes. The facility was funded under the National Reconstruction Plan, which entailed a strict deadline for the settlement of funds and, for the contractor, a record pace of project completion. We executed the project in a consortium with the company Climatic, a supplier of modular technology, which guaranteed its completion within the agreed time limit.

“One of the challenges was the existing district heating network, which is located exactly where the proposed building was to be constructed. Due to the ongoing heating season, it had to remain in its current location until the end of April,’ says Artur Jeżewski. “Running directly beneath the centre of the building, the network posed a significant challenge in terms of both design and construction during the foundation works.”

The installation of the CT scanner and MRI scanner required relevant structural reinforcements to ensure that the loads from the heavy medical equipment could be supported. Consequently, as early as at the design stage, transport routes were planned and the dimensions of doors, door frames and service openings in the walls were adjusted to facilitate the transport and installation of the equipment.

The Diagnostic Imaging Centre meets the needs of the residents of Gliwice by combining state-of-the-art facilities with practical solutions for its staff and patients.
