The contract covered the execution of all building works including delivery of materials and equipment with the exclusion of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) and the FIS, FIDS and DCS airport systems.
The new Terminal hall consists of three usable floors above ground level, one technical floor, a mezzanine and one substructure floor. The floorage of the building amounts to more than 9 000 m2 whereas the total area - 28 000 m2. The building also has areas for passenger services, it also houses a baggage sorting facility and the a parking lot. On the building a tower was built for persons coordinating traffic on the apron.
The Terminal has 15 check-in stations. During one year up to 2 million passengers will use the airport. In front of the terminal a new paid car park was built (before that there were not enough parking spaces for private cars). The project was executed using funds under the Regional Operational Programme for the Łódź region and public funds.
The Terminal will handle domestic flights to three cities (Krakow, Warsaw, Gdańsk), foreign flights(London Stansted, London Luton, Dublin, Edinburgh, Liverpool, East Midlands, Dortmund, Milan Bergamo, Oslo Rygge, Bristol, Bremen, Barcelona, Rome, Paris, Frankfurt Hahn, Copenhagen) and chartered flights (Sharm El Sheikh, Tel Aviv, Hurghada, Heraklion, Antalya, Varna, Enfidia, Rhodes).
First passengers will depart from the new Terminal on June 6.
