Prosta Tower honoured in the CEMEX Building Award competition
On 27 October 2011 in Monterrey in Mexico results were announced of the international CEMEX Building Award competition for the most interesting concrete buildings built worldwide in the last year.
In this year’s edition one of Warbud’s project, Prosta Tower was noticed and honoured.
This extraordinary residential and office building was designed by APA Kuryłowicz & Associates design studio. A characteristic element of the building is its facade in the form of an irregular sheet constructed of diamond-shaped concrete blocks. The investor is the company Marvipol SA, Warbud SA acted as the main contractor.
Warbud was represented in the award ceremony by the following persons responsible for the construction of the building: Mr Jarosław Nielipiński, Director of the Contracts Unit and Mr Rafał Rusek, Site Manager.
The most striking and exceptional element of the Prosta Tower Building is the double facade (south elevation) on the side of Prosta St. A gently waving reinforced concrete ‘mesh’ built of architectural concrete constitutes the main structure of the building and is separated from the actual facade by a 60 cm gap. The actual facade is made of a curtain wall with maximum glazing and hidden mullions. The east and west elevations are made in the form of classic curtain walls made of cement panels with glass fibres. On the north side the building is connected with another existing building.
The CEMEX Building Award competition has been organized for 20 years. To-date more projects from more than 20 countries have been awarded in the competition.
