On 1 December 2014 Warbud signed a construction contract for a multi-purpose 'Forum Radunia' complex in Gdansk. On Warbud's part the contract was signed by Mr Włodzimierz Włodarczyk, Chairman of the Board and Mr Wojciech Gerber, Member of the Management Board. The Investor for the project is the company 'Forum Radunia' Sp. z o.o. with its seat in Gdansk. The complex will be built on a 6-hectare plot in the area of Sienny and Rakowy Markets within the following streets: 3 Maja, Armii Krajowej, Wały Jagiellońskie and Hucisko, in the direct vicinity of the historic centre of Gdansk.
The implementation of this project is divided into two phases:
phase 1 - designing (to a limited extent),
phase 2 - design and construction phase (detailed design + construction works).
The building will be a seven-storey shopping centre with partial basement and an open, multi-storey car park. The main architectural element of the whole complex is the Radunia Canal passage. It will split the building into two parts with different styles. The eastern part is designed as separated enclosed structures covered by gable roofs. The modern accent of the building constituting a contrasting element with the rest of the complex will be the section containing the cinema to be situated directly in Nowy Długi Targ Street opposite the future City of Gdansk Historic Heritage Centre. A connection of the two sides of the canal will be provided in the form of suspended footbridges covered with wood and glass and by the preserved historic bridge.
