A visit to the construction site of Eastern Ring Road of Warsaw

Warbud is building a 2.50kilometre section of S17 expressway (two roadways with three lanes each) for GDDKiA. The contract for designing and construction of the expressway between the Zakręt junction (including the junction) and the Lubelska junction (without a junction), which is part of the Warsaw Eastern Bypass, was signed on 22 November 2017. We are now entering the final stage of construction of the S17/DK2 junction, which is the key element of the route.

Rafał Włodyka, Warbud SA Site Manager talks about the dynamics of the works:

‘Work related to the construction of a retaining structure with the bottom plate at level -1 is almost finished. We still have to complete utility networks, road and finishing works. We have put into operation among others a footbridge for pedestrians onto which pedestrian crossing was transferred. This has improved the safety and comfort of people crossing the construction site during the temporary traffic organization. We have also completed Zagórska street with all associated civil structures and retaining structures made of reinforced soil. Utility networks and road works are also completed. This is an important aspect. It was a condition to start the next stage of temporary traffic organization, thanks to which previously unavailable fragments of the main section of the S17 road were opened,’ explained Mr. Włodyka. ‘The load carrying structures of the 100-metre flyover (+1) are also ready. The completion of the works in that area made it possible for us to start utility network and road construction works within the junction (0). We are also continuing the construction of the main road of S17 expressway, service roads and mering lanes.’
