BREEAM Certificate for Nowy Plac Unii building
In May 2012, the office part of the office and shopping complex Nowy Plac Unii now under construction in Warsaw was awarded the prestigious BREEAM certificate granted to projects executed in accordance with sustainable construction principles. The project has received a “very good” rating.

Nowy Plac Unii, which is now built by Warbud, is a top-class office complex connected with a shopping mall located on the border of Warsaw’s Śródmieście and Mokotów districts. The buildings offers 41 300 m2 of class A+ office space. Galeria Miejska, the shopping part of the building, offers 15 500 m2 of shopping space. As much as 65% of the shopping space has already been rented - in one year and a half before the scheduled opening date. Among the tenants are, inter alia: the ING Group, which has signed a long-term lease agreement and will occupy 11 out of the 21 available office floors, as well as Supersam, ZARA, Massimo Dutti, Bank ING, Vistula & Wólczanka, W. Kruk, Cubus and Deni Cler.

The BREEAM quality assessment method for an ongoing development project was created in 1990 by the BRE organisation (Building Research Establishment) and is now the most popular solution of that type adopted in Europe. Nowy Plac Unii was evaluated for over 80 criteria such as, among others. facility management, water consumption, CO2 consumption and emissions, the impact of the materials on the environment, the impact of the building on the well-being and health of its users, the location and circulation solutions in the context of reduction of CO2 emissions, waste management, management of space and minimizing pollution. The project obtained the final “very good” assessment and thus was included among the greenest buildings in Poland.

The state-of-the-art technological solutions used in the building are for example water leakage sensors, air quality monitoring, the building’s solar access and light intensity after dawn or the acoustic performance of the building reduced to below 35dB.

The completion of the construction work is scheduled for the year 2013.
