New Orange data centre is being built near Warsaw. It will serve its first customers next year

Orange Polska is building a modern data centre - Warsaw Data Hub. The facility is to be ready for use in autumn 2021. This is the result of a contract signed in August this year with the general contractor - Warbud SA.

Forecasts in the ninth edition of the PMR report published in May 2020 "Data centre market in Poland 2020. Market analysis and development forecasts for 2020-2025” say that the resources of the Polish data centre market will be doubled by 2025.

‘Market demand for modern data centres is constantly growing. In our opinion, this trend will continue, especially in the context of accelerated digitization of many areas of business and a radical increase in data transfer in the network, which is also supported by the introduction of the 5G standard,’ said Julien Ducarroz, President of Orange Polska during yesterday's cornerstone laying ceremony. ‘Warsaw Data Hub is another, already the fourth Orange data processing centre in Poland. 1600 m2 of safe and modern space is being created here for our business clients but also for the most important telecommunications and IT systems of Orange itself. This will significantly enrich our colocation, network and cloud services offer. While developing our potential, we remember about the environment. The centre in Łazy will be equipped among others with a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 0.5 MW,’ added Mr. Ducarroz.

The new data processing centre is being built within the borders of the Warsaw agglomeration - close to the most important business and logistics hub in Poland. It will be one of the most modern facilities of this type in Poland in terms of applied technologies, security standards and pro-ecological solutions, such as electric car charging stations. The design and construction of the Warsaw Data Hub will be certified in accordance with the EN 50600 class 3 standard.

‘We are glad that another data centre will be included in Warbud's portfolio and that it will meet the highest requirements in the area of digitization. At the same time, it will be the first facility of this type where the investor places so much emphasis on the use of environmentally friendly technologies. This approach is in line with the commitments made by our company regarding environmental protection,’ stressed  Mr. Grzegorz Chudzik - Member of Warbud S.A.’s Management Board.

Warsaw Data Hub will become a strategic facility for Orange Polska and play a key role in the region. It will be equipped with the most modern physical, fire and technical security systems. The building will be powered from two independent power connections. Each of the chambers, thanks to having its own generator with a fuel reserve, will allow 72 hours of uninterrupted operation, at the same time being an independent technological "entity" with its own systems: power supply, ventilation and precision air conditioning. To guarantee the highest fire safety, advanced early fire detection systems and a gas extinguishing system were used. The building will be protected by security systems using among others laser and biometric technologies and physical protection. The entire technical infrastructure will be supervised by a technical environment monitoring system and maintenance centre personnel monitoring Warsaw Data Hub 24 hours a day. All those solutions will allow the Centre to meet the expectations of even the most demanding customers.

The cornerstone laying ceremony was also attended by representatives of local government authorities of the Piaseczno poviat and the Lesznowola commune where Warsaw Data Hub will be built.
