On December 15, 2025, the previously suspended part of the contract between the Rozmaitości Theatre (TR Warszawa) and WARBUD SA was launched. The contract covers the second stage of the construction of the new TR Warszawa building. An addendum was signed by Mr. Grzegorz Chudzik - Member of the Management Board of WARBUD SA, Mr. Lech Wąsowski - Director of WARBUD SA’s Region South and by Ms. Anna Rochowska - Director of TR Warszawa.
The second stage of the project includes the construction of the above-ground part of the building, including the reinforced concrete structure of five above-ground floors and the steel roof structure. This stage is a continuation of the development project, in which the facility will begin to clearly take shape within the space of the New Center of Warsaw.
“Work on the new seat of TR Warszawa has gained momentum and will soon be visible to residents and visitors. The commencement of work on the above-ground structure makes it possible that in just a few years we will become an integral part of the new culture centre of Warsaw. The New York Times recently called us ‘one of the country’s most acclaimed avant-garde theatres.’ Our performances - awarded at the most important theatre festivals in Poland and abroad - touch on current social issues, we are not afraid of bold and modern forms and experiments. We can't wait to be able to operate on a larger scale,” says Anna Rochowska, Director of TR Warsaw.
The work will be executed by the same WARBUD SA construction team that is now building the first stage of the project, which ensures its organizational and technological continuity.
“The continuation of TR Warszawa construction work is great news for WARBUD. The second stage of construction, covering the above-ground structure and roof, is the moment when the building will begin to fully take shape in the centre of Poland’s capital. The implementation of this stage requires precise planning, high technical competence and close cooperation of the entire team. We are proud to be able to contribute to the development of the city's artistic space,” says WARBUD’s director Mr. Grzegorz Chudzik.
“The decision to continue the work allowed us to launch of the previously suspended part of the contract with the contractor of the underground part – WARBUD. This will allow us to continue work and execute it in accordance with the established project schedule. Entrusting the responsibility for building the entire structure of the theatre to one contractor is also the most rational solution from the point of view of the security of the investment process,” adds Mr. Mikołaj Mundzik, Deputy Director for Investment at TR Warszawa.
According to the contract, the general time for completion of stages I and II is 23 months from the date of taking over the construction site. The total area of the facility is 17,146 sqm, including 11,526 sqm of the above-ground space. The building's volume, including the above-ground and underground sections, exceeds 112,000 cubic metres.
The new TR Warszawa seat will be one of the most modern theatres in Europe, and at the same time a place for the production and presentation of performing arts, music and choreography. It will allow staging both large-scale productions and more intimate performances. The facility will have a large stage enabling the arrangement of even the most technologically sophisticated artistic concepts. A smaller stage will allow for the creation of stagings with a close relationship between the stage and the audience.
The main designer of TR is the American studio Thomas Phifer and Partners, working in cooperation with the Polish design company APA Wojciechowski and Buro Happold. The contract engineer is a consortium of ECM Group Polska SA and Portico Project Management. The project is financed by Capital City Warsaw.
