On September 24, 2024, an award ceremony was held in Warsaw in the 34th edition of the competition organised by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians. The jury selected Poland’s best construction projects of the year 2023. The golden statuette for the construction of Sports and Recreation Center in Płock was awarded to Marcin Krzykwa, Contract Manager, Tomasz Sierzputowski, Site Manager and Piotr Niesłuchowski representing the Investor – the City of Płock.

‘We are extremely pleased that the jury noticed the uniqueness of the facility built by Warbud. Once again, outstanding representatives of the construction industry have appreciated us as a general contractor, as we are able to handle projects which are complicated, unique and require more than just routine construction work,’ noted Marcin Krzykwa. ‘This is a reward for the effort put in by the entire engineering staff in the designing and then building the facility, but also an important award for the City of Płock,’ said Tomasz Sierzputowski. ‘I am convinced that the Aquapark, which makes Płock unique in the entire region for its high-class water park, will attract visitors from near and far areas of the city and will have a positive impact on its image.'

In order to cope with the construction project implemented as a private funding initiative, Warbud engaged experts at the stage of preparing the offer, who correctly priced the construction phase, construction financing costs and the 20-year technical maintenance period for the building. Not only was a BIM model of the building created, but also, based solely on the functional and utility program provided by the client, the building's annual demand for electricity, heat and water was estimated.

‘We successfully completed the construction works, finishing this technically difficult project on time,’ emphasizes Marcin Krzykwa. ‘Together with Tomek Sierzputowski we received the construction "Oscar" on behalf of the entire team involved in the construction of the Płock Center as well as on behalf of Warbud SA which has developed a high market position and competences allowing the implementation of such advanced projects. Tomek and I would like to express our great thanks to our colleagues who ensured the success of the project in the phases of tender bid preparation, warranty services and technical maintenance. This would not have been possible without you!'

The Jury of the Competition assesses the quality of works, technology of construction, building solutions and their technical advancement, organization of the construction process, financing of the project and the impact of the investment on the environment. Verification takes place in three stages throughout the year.

Yesterday's gala was chaired by prof. Maria Kaszyńska, Chairwoman of the Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians (PZITB), who noted that the 90th anniversary of the Association, the upcoming Builders’ Day and the unprecedented flood in southern Poland show us how important the construction profession is today. ‘Your profession is beautiful and necessary. I wish you further interesting challenges and a good climate for Polish construction industry.’ The final event of the gala was a concert by Marek Błaszczyk, pianist, composer and arranger.
