Warbud will alter and extend the main building of N. Barlicki Hospital for Medical University of Łódź

On 28 June 2013 Warbud signed a contract covering the extension and alteration of the north wing of the main hospital building and the supply of equipment.

On Warbud's part the contract was signed by Mr Włodzimierz Włodarczyk, Chairman and Mr Jerzy Werle, Vice Chairman and Director General. The Client is Independent Public Health Centre N. Barlicki University Clinical Hospital No 1 of Medical University of Łódź. The execution design was developed by Design Studio Wandachowicz Kashyna Architekci Sp. P. from Poznań. Warbud will carry out the building works in a consortium with the firm Climatic Sp. z o.o.

The structure of the extended part of the building will be a monolithic reinforced concrete column and slab frame with drop panels, with partial utilisation of the existing foundations of the historic hospital building. The development will match the surrounding modernist architectural style from the turn of the second and third decade of the 20th century.

The objective of the alteration work is to reorganize the hospital space, increase building standard and to improve the quality of specialist medical services. The new building will house the following units: Magnetic Resonance Imaging, patient units (neurology, neurosurgery, maxillofacial surgery, post-anaesthesia care unit and post-surgery supervision unit), an operating theatre as well as welfare facilities for hospital personnel. Warbud's scope will also cover building and fit-out works including landscaping, electrical installations and partial supply of medical equipment. It is worth noting that all the hospital facilities will remain operational during the execution of the building works, which increases the complexity of the project.
