Warbud will build accommodation facilities for Territorial Defence Forces in Limanowa

On June 18, 2023, a ceremony took place in which a contract was signed for the construction of a military complex to be used by subunits of the 11th Division of General Leopold Okulicki Lesser Poland Territorial Defence Brigade  in Limanowa. During the event, a cornerstone for the construction of the project was also laid.  The barracks will be ready in 20 months after signing the contract.

Warbud was represented by Mr. Nicolas Dépret, President of the Management Board and Mr. Grzegorz Koprowski and Mr. Damian Kamiński, Directors of Branch South.

Among the guests were Mr. Wojciech Skurkiewicz - Deputy Minister of National Defence, Maciej Klisz - Brigadier General, Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces, Mr. Bartłomiej Pawlak - Vice-President of the Management Board of the Polish Development Fund, Mr. Jan Hamerski - Senator of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism, Mr. Grzegorz Biedroń - Councillor of the Lesser Poland Voivodship Parliament and Mr. Władysław Bieda - Mayor of Limanowa who was the host for the ceremony.

‘I am extremely happy that we will contribute to strengthening of the Polish defence system thanks to the construction of a training complex for the Territorial Defence Forces,’ said Mr. Nicolas Dépret, President of the Management Board of Warbud.

The complex, located in an area of 12 hectares, will include a barracks and office building with an area of 8,600 m² for approx. 440 people, a garage for military vehicles (1,700 m² of usable area) and complete site infrastructure.

The construction project is carried out by the City of Limanowa and the Ministry of National Defence as a pilot program and it will be the first investment in Poland in the Public-Public Partnership model. The flexible PPP formula makes it possible to use this model to implement further strategic military investments. The party implementing the project and investor is the municipal company LimWot sp. z o.o. which will manage the barracks until the army buys the facility including the land.  This will happen in instalments over a twenty-year period. The investment is co-financed by the Polish Development Fund. After construction work is completed, the Army will receive a turnkey facility in accordance with the guidelines. This solution will save the Army precious time and resources and reduce the burden on the budget of the Ministry of National Defence by spreading the cost over 10 years. For the city, the project means increased security, development of local infrastructure and additional budget revenues.

A symbolic accent of our involvement in the Polish defence mission was also the participation in the ceremony of Mr. Rafał Tańcula, our production employee from Krakow, who laid the foundation act. In September last year, Mr. Tańcula joined the ranks of the 11. Lesser Poland Territorial Defence Brigade and he underwent an eight-day training in Limanowa. At that time it was still held in tents.
