Warbud signs a finance and build contract for construction of a hospital in Sosnowiec

On November 8, 2016, Warbud signed a contract for construction of a hospital building to house an Operating Theatre, an Intensive Care Unit and Hospital Health Centres in the area of City Hospital in Sosnowiec. The building with the value of 45 mPLN will be completed in 1.5 years. This is another Warbud's hospital construction contract after the Woman and Child Health Centre in Zabrze which is implemented as a „finance and build" project.

In addition to the construction and equipping of the Operating Theatre, Warbud has provided financing for the project. This means that the hospital will start repaying the invested capital in a 10-year period only after Warbud has received an occupancy permit for the building. The health services sector is facing enormous development needs and struggles with significant underfinancing, therefore the formula used in Sosnowiec may be a good example to be followed in the hospital construction market.

The separate building containing the operating theatre will have three floors. The lowest floor at the basement level will contain technical and computer facilities. The ground floor will contain an Intensive Care Unit with 12 beds for patients in worst condition, surgeries and a conference room equipped with HD multimedia systems for transmission of operations.

On the first floor there will be a full-profile top-standard Operating Theatre with 6 specialist operating rooms: general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology and otolaryngology. The rooms will be digitized which will allow for a quick access to medical documentation of the operated patient and give doctors an opportunity to record current events and consult other hospitals. The Facility will be connected with the existing five-storey building by a 12-metre connector. It will provide direct access to the pavilion from all the hospital floors. Around the pavilion there will be a network of roads and walkways connected with the existing hospital road system.

The Contracting Authority is Sosnowiecki Szpital Miejski sp. z o.o. (Sosnowiec City Hospital) and the Designer - GORGOŃ Architecture Studio from Katowice.

The building in numbers:

Total area: 4 705 m2

Usable area: 3 892 m2

Footprint of the building: 1 487 m2

Cubic volume: 19 600 m3

The new pavilion of the Sosnowiec Hospital is not the only project currently implemented by Warbud in that region. Warbud has also built Plaza Shopping Centre, Fashion House Shopping Centre, the seat of National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and the International Congress Centre in Katowice.
