New contract: closed-in core and shell of Wroclavia shopping and office complex

Warbud has signed a contract for the construction of a shopping and entertainment centre with an office section, underground car parks and a surface car park, underground coach station, visual information system and landscaping works, internal and external technical infrastructure and the road system.

The modernistic complex "Wroclavia" will be built in the area of the former coach station in the heart of the city. The architecture of the building is very modern. It contrasts with the historic development of Wroclaw. Thus it will be part of the modern urban fabric as a symbol of 21st century architecture. The inspiration for the design was a tree - an oak named "Guide". This more than 300 year old natural monument situated at the crossing of Borowska and Sucha streets in the project plot, will be included in the form of the building and greet visitors at the main entrance.

The "Wroclavia" complex is to be integrated with a modern, well-lit coach station with an area of 5000 sqm.

Warbud will perform the following works:

  • Earth works (last layer of approx. 50 cm)
  • Anchoring of the bottom slab
  • Earth electrodes and bonding within the structure
  • Underfloor sewers
  • Reinforced concrete structure
  • Steel structures
  • Tensioned prefabricated floor slabs
  • Concrete floors, epoxy floors in garages
  • Water stopping and thermal insulations in the substructure
  • Masonry works
  • Painting of unfinished surfaces of concrete and masonry elements
  • Roof coverings

At the moment of finishing the project Wroclaw will have an architecturally unique shopping centre and office building with 71 000 sqm of floor area for tenants. In that area there will be 200 shops, the largest cinema in Wroclaw and the first IMAX cinema in the city. There will be also a wide variety of restaurants and high-standard offices. There will be 2300 parking spaces for visitors. Cyclists will have bicycle stands outside the building and an indoor bicycle parking zone.

The building was designed by Polish studio IMB Asymetria Achitekci which has in its reach portfolio designs of shopping centres, public buildings and culture and art centres. "Wroclavia's" interior is now being designed by the Paris-based studio Saguez&Partners which matches in its designs world's best practices and solutions.  The Investor is the company WOOD Sp. z o.o. whose sole shareholder is the stock-listed European investment and developer company Unibail-Rodamco. In Poland Unibail-Rodamco own among others the shopping centres Arkadia, Galeria Mokotów and Galeria Wileńska in Warsaw. Unibail-Rodamco is also the investor in Lublin's Złote Tarasy shopping centre.
