Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz took part in the opening of Warsaw Medical University Paediatric Hospital

On 28 September 2015 an opening ceremony was held in Poland's largest children's hospital - built by Warbud in Warsaw. The ribbon was cut by among others Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, Marshal of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and Anna Komorowska who was a honorary patron of hospital construction since the beginning of the project.

Warbud was represented by Chairman Włodzimierz Włodarczyk and Mr Lech Wąsowski - Director of the Medical Construction Division.

'This is a state of the art health service facility with elegant and spacious interior - it is hard to believe that it's a hospital,' this sentence could best describe the new Warsaw Medical University hospital which will be available for children form the whole Mazovia region and sometimes from other regions as well. Recently the Children's University Hospital operated in two locations - at Marszałkowska and Działdowska streets in Warsaw. The old buildings were too small and required urgent renovation.

Warbud SA Project Manager Mr Mariusz Janikowski was asked for his comment on the completed project 'First of all I want to congratulate all Warbud team who did such a great job on that project. Together we have built a new hospital which is one of Europe's largest children's hospitals and which will provide support and professional care to its young patients. I am really glad to say that it was worth taking part in that project.'

The new hospital building will house 28 units with three main functions: treatment of youngest patients, development of medicine and education of medical personnel. The hospital has 535 beds including 453 paediatric beds, 37 neonatology beds and 45 obstetrics beds. This is 156 beds more than in the previous building at Marszałkowska and Działdowska streets.

Another improvement is the new Paediatric Emergency Unit for left-bank Warsaw districts which did not exist before. In January 2016 two new units will start operation: an Obstetrics and Perinatology Clinic and a Neonatology Clinic. Opening an obstetrics clinic and a neonatology clinic with an intensive infant care unit in the same hospital will eliminate the need to transport preterm infants who require surgeries. The hospital has 8 floors: the basement, the ground floor, 5 hospital floors and a technical floor. There is also a multi-storey underground garage for nearly 400 cars and a surface car park with 34 parking spaces.

The hospital is be composed of three buildings connected by a glazed passage. On the roof of the building there is be a landing pad for medical helicopters.
