Warbud has concluded another contract with Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital of Poznań Medical University

On June 15, 2023, Warbud signed a contract for the extension of the buildings of Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital of Poznań Medical University.

Warbud was represented by Mr. Lech Wąsowski, Director of Region South and Mr. Karol Puszerkiewicz, Director of Region North. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznań, prof. Michał Nowicki, Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation and prof. Tomasz Kotwicki, Rector's Representative for Wiktor Dega Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Clinical Hospital of Poznań Medical University.

The five-storey hospital building will house a 7-room modern operating theatre, children's orthopaedic wards, a sterilization room and a hospital pharmacy. Hospital clinics, diagnostic laboratories and the production and orthopaedic supply department will be moved to the new building.

The Clinical Hospital in Poznań is not only one of the largest, but also a leading orthopaedic and rehabilitation facility in Poland. A total of 25,000 patients are treated in all wards every year. The construction of the new section will make it possible to concentrate all medical activities in one part of the building. A Museum of Polish Orthopaedics will also be created there.

‘We are glad that the Client has entrusted us with the construction of new hospital facilities which will be part of this major orthopaedic and rehabilitation unit in Poland. This is a proof of trust in our experienced staff. We will do everything not to let them down,’ said Paweł Haberland, Director of the West Branch.

The architecture of the new facility will refer to the present Orthopaedics Building which was built in 1868 (on the plan of the letter H) by Sacred Heart Sisters (from the Sacre-Coeur order). After World War II, in the years 1947-1952, the destroyed building was rebuilt. The last major expansion of the teaching hospital took place in mid-1960s. At that time, a rehabilitation building was built according to the instructions by prof. Wiktor Dega. The project currently implemented by Warbud is therefore the hospital's largest expansion in nearly sixty years.
